So I went to see this about a week ago. It’s the true (supposed to be true anyway) story about Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan. The story is pretty remarkable and much more interesting than I remembered it to be. If you remember this story being in the news, I would recommend giving this movie a chance.
Margot Robbie was awesome in this. It’s a shame that she’s not getting more buzz for the Best Actress award. She did get nominated, but there doesn’t seem to be much chance that she’ll win. This was her finest performance to date. And let’s not forget Allison Janney. This was a performance for the ages by her. She appears to be the frontrunner for Best Supporting Actress and that’s not a surprise. The acting by these two women is more than enough reason to go see this film.
The story truly was interesting. What I remember the story being is not what it actually was. I don’t know if I just don’t remember it correctly or if the story that was released back then was not the real story. The story alone makes this film worth seeing. On top of the story and the acting, the music is really good. The sounds track is about 400 songs and they’re all solid.
About the only negative thing about this film is that it’s pretty depressing. These people didn’t have very happy or easy lives. There is some humor mixed in to try and help, but it can be a bit of a downer for sure.
