Movie Snob Review of The Commuter
| Feb122018Sorry I’ve been a bit behind. Have three to review today. The first one up is The Commuter. This is a story about a businessman who if offered a “job” on his daily commute home aboard a train. The businessman is played by Liam Neeson. He plays his usual tough guy who can take care of himself.
The story was so-so. There was a bit of a background, but it wasn’t all that interesting. The action was also just so-so. Often times Neeson’s roles have a bit of a revenge factor. That wasn’t really the case here. This whole movie just felt a bit forced. Many of the characters weren’t really developed much and it made the story feel a bit off.
There was some mystery as to who was behind all of this. However, that even seemed forced and without real meaning. Perhaps there was something I missed. Or perhaps there really wasn’t much to this film other than the action and attempt at suspense.
If you’re just looking for a mindless action movie, you could do worse. But if you want a story with substance, I’d look elsewhere.
FINAL SCORE: 45
